Class Options
Novice Speech & Debate:
Students master the fundamentals of both argumentation and persuasive speaking while building critical research skills and unshakeable confidence. This course is designed for two semesters of curriculum, but students may switch into an experienced course after one.
Public Forum Debate:
Students learn varsity level Public Forum debate, mastering case writing and advanced strategies that separate champions from the competition.
World Schools Debate:
Students learn varsity level World Schools debate, working on strategies to compete in both prepared and impromptu rounds.
How do our online classes work?
We offer programs for novice students, World Schools Debate, Public Forum Debate in an interactive virtual classroom where students master fundamental techniques under expert guidance. Each session combines live instruction, practice, and personalized coaching from accomplished coaches who have qualified for prestigious competitions like TOC, NSDA Nationals, and TFA State. Students develop confidence and skills through topic preparation, real-time practice, and immediate feedback, leaving each session ready to excel in competitive speech and debate.

Anthony Brown
DIRECTOR
Coach Brown first joined the DFW debate community in 2007 as a competitor at Coppell High School. He currently serves as the Director of Speech & Debate at Southlake Carroll. His students have championed NSDA Nationals, TFA State, Florida Blue Key, the Bronx Invitational, the Harvard Round Robin, and more. Additionally, his PF teams have reached elimination rounds at every tournament they have attended. He founded Bluebonnet in 2024 and is extremely excited for the second summer of Bluebonnet Debate Camp.

Sophia Ahmed
COACH
Sophia Ahmed is a student at The College of William and Mary. She competed in WSD for four years at Southlake Carroll. Her career highlights include UT Champion, State Semifinalist and National Quarterfinalist. She has served as a coach for both middle school and high school students. She is looking forward to helping students express their individual and unique roles this season.

Natalie Wang
COACH
Natalie competes in Public Forum debate at Southlake Carroll, where she is a three-time Tournament of Champions qualifier. She has advanced to elimination rounds and earned speaker awards at more than 30 tournaments locally and across the country. In addition to competing, Natalie has extensive experience coaching middle school debaters. She's looking forward to teaching at Bluebonnet this year!
